Our team is at the forefront of advanced home automation and electronic systems integration. The company is headed up by:
ALEXANDER (Sandy) HOWARD - Managing Director
Sandy is an electronic systems analyst and designer who began his
career in home automation in 1981. His work was recognised with a
prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Custom Electronic
Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) in 2000.
JULIAN MUIR - Director
Julian has more than 30 years experience in the audio and video
industry in Australia. Over the last 18 years he has been involved in
the analysis, design, documentation and programming of home automation
projects for some of Australia's leading members of the film,
television, media and financial communities.
STEVEN YANG – Chief Software Engineer/Programmer
An
invaluable asset to the team, Steven joined the AVD Australia in
2009. With more than 11 year’s experience as a Software Engineer
and with an intrinsic understanding of automation systems, Steven
is involved in further developing solutions for many system interfaces,
third party controls and hardware and software solutions.
MARC SILVER – Projects Manager/Systems Designer
Marc has been and integral part of the AVD Design and Project
Management team for nearly 10 years. With a keen eye for detail and
innate problem-solving skills he has been responsible for project
managing some of AVD’s most successful high-end residential projects
around Australia. Marc has always worked in the audio visual industry
and his knowledge of electronic systems integration is second to none.
FRANCESCA MUIR – Publicity/Office Manager
With more than years 25 years experience as a publicist and journalist
Francesca brings a level of expertise rarely found in this industry.
Her professionalism and dedication to the industry is
boundless and evident in AVD's growing profile, both locally and overeas.
Company history
Multi-room audio and home theatre systems were novel
concepts back in 1987 when AVD began designing and installing them. But
the market soon caught on, which led us to develop a microprocessor
controlled system to distribute high quality audio to six rooms from
one set of source components.
After 18 months of development, the result was the
award-winning SYSTEM 2000 audio visual controller. It enabled greater
flexibility because its control panels not only controlled audio in a
given area, but also other local functions, such as curtains and
lighting.
The concept of combining functions and interlinking
systems was really the start of home automation. As home automation
evolved with advances in electronic and communications technology, AVD
embraced the entire spectrum of systems integration and home automation.
Today AVD provides home automation consulting, design,
engineering and project management services to clients in Australia,
South East Asia and the USA. We are behind many of Australia's most
prestigious home automation projects.
